All skin peels involve applying a solution to the outer layers of the skin. This solution causes these layers to peel away. The result is younger, smoother, and more evenly pigmented skin. Skin peels differ based on the following factors:

• the concentration and type of the solution
• the number of coats applied
• the duration the solution is left on the skin
• skin type and sensitivity
• pre-treatments carried out (i.e. topical Vitamin A or oral Roaccutane).

We also offer medical grade skin peels. These are carried out by aesthetic practitioners who are highly experienced in the use of stronger concentration skin peels.

At Eden MediSpa, our wide range of skin peels vary from light to more specialised peels. If pigmentation and age spots are your concern, our advanced depigmentation peels might be the answer. If you suffer from acne and rosacea, we can address these concerns with a targeted peel for a healthier, blemish-free complexion. If you are looking for a more natural anti-aging approach, that doesn’t involve injectables or surgery, a skin tightening peel could be the solution.

This treatment can be used on all skin types. However, prior to your treatment, we will take a full medical history to confirm suitability for the treatment. You will also be asked to give informed consent. The procedure, its benefits and potential side effects will be explained to you. During this time, you are most welcome to ask any questions you may have. You will be provided with verbal or written after care instructions. We will make a recommendation for home care to further enhance your results.

After cleaning your skin, the skin peeling solution will be applied. With Glycolic Peels, you will experience a warm and mild prickling. With TCA peels, the solution is only left on for a few minutes before the skin is cooled.

Depending on the size of the treated area, each session can take from 30 minutes to one hour.

Following a superficial peel, you may experience mild facial redness, similar to sunburn, which resolves within 48 hours. You can continue your normal activities. Mineral makeup can be applied immediately after the procedure.

Moderate depth TCA peels result in more intense redness immediately after the treatment, as well as mild swelling. Your skin will feel tight and go darker for a day or two after the peel. On day 3, peeling will begin and can last up to 5 days. You will need to take a week off from work after a moderate depth TCA peel.

Superficial peels require a course of 4 to 6 treatments every 2 to 4 weeks to achieve the optimum results. Medium TCA peels can be used as a once-off treatment. However, depending on your skin condition and peel depth, you may wish to repeat the procedure a further two times after a month to achieve even better results.

• The application of cold compresses after the treatment may be recommended
• Cleanse your face twice a day with a mild cleanser and pat dry gently with a soft towel
• We will recommend a special moisturiser to encourage skin repair, which can be applied as often as needed
• No picking as it delays the healing and causes scarring
• No heat or heat treatments to the face for up to 2 days
• A sunscreen (S.P.F 30) and antioxidant protection should be used post treatment
• Mineral makeup can be applied immediately after treatment if required
