This treatment can be used on all skin types. However, prior to your treatment, we will take a full medical history to confirm suitability for the treatment. You will also be asked to give informed consent. The procedure, its benefits and potential side effects will be explained to you. During this time, you are most welcome to ask any questions you may have. You will be provided with verbal or written after care instructions.
There is a small possibility of bruising. To reduce this risk, we advise you not to take anti-inflammatory pain-killers (e.g. Aspirin, Nurofen, Voltaren), St Johns Wart or Vitamin E supplements, for at least a week prior to your treatment, as they all increase your risk for bruising. Alcohol also increases your risk for bruising therefore we advise you to not have any alcohol for 24 hours.
The treatment takes approximately 30 to 60 minutes. The sclerosing agent does sting during the treatment but this very quickly subsides. After the treatment the treated area will be red with some bruises along the injection sites, which will disappear in 7-10 days. Occasionally the vessels may be tender for a day or two after the treatment.
